Greetings from Bulgaria!

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

I am nearing the end of my first week here, and it has been exciting and productive! My first stop was the capitol, Sophia, where I met with Iglika Mishkova, a professor and director of the ethnographic museum. Learned a lot from her and set off on a tour of the villages surrounding Pernik. The photograph on the left shows a man from Selo Kosharevo showing us his authentic bells, called chanove. When we passed, they happened to be filming some Kukeri for a television program.

More news soon!

Good news! We have been chosen to receive a grant from Austin Film Society through the Texas Filmmaker’s Production Fund in the amount of $3000! Congratulations team, and we are on our way!

* To the left is a photograph I took of a young Kuker in Celo Vresovo, who kindly dressed up for us.  Celo Vresovo is located in the east, close to Aitos.

Let’s make it happen!

Happy Halloween! We are beginning our major fundraising campaigns. One through USA Projects, an esteemed fundraising website exclusive to award winning artists! They have matching funds, so the more we raise the more we get in matching funds! Another way to donate is through the Austin Film Society website, https://www.austinfilm.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=1519 . I am also adding a video to this site that is also up on our fundraising sites. Let’s make it happen!

Our sincerest thank you to everyone who helped us reach our fundraising goal! We could not have done it without every single donation, and we are thankful for all of the support. I am leaving for Bulgaria in a week for last minute preparations, and filming will begin very soon after that. We will keep everyone updated as we go!

With my deepest Gratitude,

Post- Production

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Hi Folks!

It’s been a while since the last update, so I thought I would write and let you know what we are up to. We are in the editing phase, and still fundraising so that we can complete the project. We are so close! Pretty soon we will have a rough edit, and we have been joined by a great producer and composer, in addition to our lovely editor and assistant editor.

In order to raise funds, I am making these lovely watercolor drawings. For a donation of $150, I will send you a framed drawing, about 12”x16”. Donations will go toward finishing costs such as paying our lovely editors, our composer, and other costs like color correction, sound edit, and music recording and rights.  Expect more news as we get closer and closer to the finish line.

TO DONATE: Please click on the link at the bottom of the page.

That’s a wrap!

We have finally finished filming, after lots of adventures and new friends! I will miss all of the people that helped immensely during the shoot in Bulgaria, and many thanks for your support, housing, and hospitality. Now, it’s time to get to work again :)
